You’re So Fly: Jade Fountain
At Flywheel Coworking, we love spotlighting the incredible companies and leaders who are shaping the future of work. One of those companies is Generational Performance Solutions (GPS), founded by Kamber Parker-Bowden. Their team, including Director of Operations, Jade Fountain, has been a valuable part of the Flywheel Greenville community since we first opened.
GPS is dedicated to transforming the challenges of multigenerational workplaces into opportunities for growth, collaboration, and stronger results. We recently sat down with Jade to learn more about GPS, the inspiration behind their mission, and how being part of the Flywheel community has fueled their journey.
1. Can you tell us a little about Generational Performance Solutions and the role you play as Director of Operations?
Generational Performance Solutions (GPS) exists to turn businesses’ perceived challenges with their multigenerational workforce into their biggest asset. We offer proven solutions to bridge generational differences and bring out the best in each team. These solutions can look like keynotes and workshops, longer-term programs, training internal facilitators (hr team members), or more direct troubleshooting through customized strategies.
As Director of Operations, I mostly operate behind the scenes: managing our finances, our team, our contracts, liaising with vendors, etc. I also work closely with Kamber on business planning and managing our core processes. I wear all of the hats, and I love it!
2. What inspired the vision behind GPS, and how does your team help organizations achieve better results across generations?
GPS was born out of frustration from a mismatch of expectations – Kamber entered the workforce out of college, ready to make an impact with a company she could have staying power at, and quickly found that her experience was not what she imagined it would be. After talking with many of her peers, she realized she wasn’t alone. GPS, formerly The YoPro Know, was born and was created on the back of hundreds and then thousands of interviews with both young and experienced professionals about their experiences. Since then, we’ve amassed more than 50,000+ hours of research across 65+ industries and equipped individuals and businesses with simple, actionable strategies to enhance their workplaces.
Organizations can achieve better results across generations by addressing misalignment and tension. We use our proprietary, evidence-based Talent Impact Process to help companies build inclusive communication strategies, tailored onboarding and development plans, and culture-building programs to bridge generational divides.
3. What’s the most rewarding part of your work, and what’s one of the biggest challenges you’ve faced in this role?
The most rewarding part of my work is that I get to lean into my strengths. I love to learn and to solve puzzles, and I get to do both of those things every single day. On the other hand, one of the biggest challenges in this role is that I love consistency, routine, and ritual…and there’s only so much of that that you’ll find in a start-up! I love that there’s something new and different every day, but that can be a double-edged sword when you’re craving the comfort of routine.
4. How has being part of the Flywheel Coworking community supported you or your company’s growth?
This community is absolutely INSANE in the best way. If there’s a need within your business, you can almost guarantee that someone within the Flywheel community “has a guy for that.” Flywheel helps us to grow by being a conduit for connection and intentionally offering opportunity to build your network and build community.
5. Looking ahead, what’s one goal or initiative you’re most excited about for Generational Performance Solutions in the next year?
With Kamber’s book officially launching this month, I’m looking forward to GPS hitting the national stage soon! Today Show, we’re ready! 🙂
